2805 Massey Ferguson MF NO GO

Massey 2805 will not pull. Used the tractor about 5 months ago under heavy load, and got back in trans would not move. Looked at the fluid after I fired it up and it was 5 gallons low. Was thinking it was a slipping clutch, but I can go through all the gears and the 3 speed powershift and the audible humm it makes gets more pronounced as you go from 1st through 8. In other words, when you put it in first, you can hear gears working and they make a hummm, as you go through the gears on up to 8, the gears sound like they are moving faster. I suppose I need to get a service manual to perform some tests. Anyone had a similar experience?

I had a 2745 here at one time, the reverse went out on it, all forward gears worked and yes it had a humm to it. It was the clutch packs in the trans went. That is a costly fix....sorry to hear that.

I'm not familiar with that beast... but in general I'm sure it's possible for the charge pump's inlet strainer to be plugged or a regulating valve could be stuck. Loss of drive oil pressure can be due to a leak, a valve problem or a simple lack of flow. Good luck...

Daryl be ready to give Agco a good junk of money. You have had one or more of the clutch packs let go. I could be as simple as a blown oring to a cracked housing. DON"T KEEP RUNNING IT. Even not moving if it has wiped out a planetary gear housing you are just ruining more parts. These MFs are very expensive to fix transmission problems in. They seemed to have a lot of them if used for heavy tillage around here. We are on a lot of side hills. That seems to make a difference. I know the local Case dealer told all of his costumers to run their 1370 and 1570 5 gallon over full of transmission oil. That did seem to make them hold up better.

hOPE THE BEST FOR yOUand TRULY HOPE IT IS MINOR , LET US KNOW ... problems such as these , make a guy rationalize on his hand clutch DC Case when he knows more comfortable tractors are available

Listen to JDseller on this one. Thoese V-8 MF row crop tractors were notorious for rear end trouble. My dad worked on them at a MF dealer for years. He absolutley hated them. From the 1150 to the 2000 series Massey kept putting 6 cylinder trannys with V8 engines. Pull a heavy load and let the wheels slip at all and your going to have a major repair bill. I generally like MF tractors but I wouldn't touch one of these old girls with a ten foot pole.

Hello all. Thank you for the posts. I looked at the linkage on this tractor and noticed that some was missing. I have no idea how long the linkage has been missing, or if its absence would cause the tractor not to move. Please see the picture I have attached and let me know if you all think that the missing "L" linkage in figure 99 would cause this problem.
