Hi Guys.
Thank you for your replies, I did not understand what you were saying about having to angle the plough for the first furrow, Sorry but I have never used a plough. Thanks for the help.
Ken.

A plow does the best job when it it level. It keeps all bottoms plowing the same depth. When there is a furrow to run in the right side tire is naturally lower than if there is no furrow. The lever on the right side adjusts the wheel so you can keep the plow level regardless of furrow or no furrow. Once you have a furrow to run it you don't have to adjust it again.

Ok. I think we have to back up for Ken and start from the beginning. Ken I am not making fun of you as there are many things I don't know the first thing about and it frustrates me when people start using jargon I am not familier with. That being said you do know that after you make the first round with the plow you will then drop the right wheels of the tractor down in the furrow for all the rest of the rounds? Set the hitch on the plow and tractor so the right wheel on the plow follows right tractor wheels down in the furrow. Logic would have it that the tractor and plow would be leaning to the right then. Obveously you can not adjust tractor to run level so you have to plow the whole field riding on a slant. You can however and you need to adjust the levers on the plow so it is not leaning to the right. The plow needs to be leveled from side to side and front to back. After you get the tractor and plow down in the furrow stop and get off. Actually walk behind the plow and crouch down and see if it is level or leaning one way or the other.

To add to what charlie said- the right side lever sets the frame angle to level it side to side to the ground...raise the lever to tip the front bottom to the right (deeper) on the first round, since the right wheel is on the surface of the field- subsequent ones, it runs (lower) in the furrow from the previous pass....so lower the lever to maintain a level frame, side to side. The left lever sets the plow depth. Other issue is to set the plow hitch to minimize side draft, and have the right tractor wheel the proper distance from center of tractor.
