I have Colby and Sure-Crop pecan trees that are dropping nuts already, and they're good nuts. I have pick up about 6 LBS in the hull so for this week. I can't ever remember pecans dropping in September. Usualy it's after a frost or freeze before they drop. Any one else have pecans dropping already?

Wish my tomatoes would even turn orange, much less red. Been about 8 degrees colder than normal here all summer, and garden is just sittin' there, prayin' for global warming.

And, here in Western Pennsylvania-my acorns are dropping like little bombs, the stink bugs are getting really bad, and its been so hot, the lawn mower business has gone away. Little rain, and hot sunny days! Grass ain't growing!
And now the leaves are falling like rain! It is so warm out there tonight, i could sleep outside!
I don't know what to do with the stink bugs--nothing seems to faze them. They gather on every screen door, they fly into my garage when i open the big door, and they cling to the front screen door, just waiting for somebody to open it and invite them in! Our cat is getting jumpy from those bugs! HELP!

I haven't even looked at the trees I have. Never have gotten one good nuts off any of them but my dad said he wanted them and he planted them in prime hay ground and would not go with what I said and I have been slowly cutting them down since they never do any thing but get in the way

Lots of pecans dropping in the orchard, but it's not because they are ready to pick. I cut a couple in half and they are no where near ready. Dry weather will eventually cause the tree to abandon the nut, leading to dropping around this time of year. The nuts won't actually be ready until probably late October.

Heres a home made recipe for bugs. Of course it will also attract bees.

Take a cup of sugar, a cup of vinegar and put them both in a quart mason jar. Now fill the rest of the jar with water and mix it all together.

Place it where you want to attract the bugs. They will be floating on the top in no time. Just skim them off to make room for the rest of them.

we've been eating persimmons for 2 weeks-mid tenn. Can't eat'em til Dec. in W. VA.

I've cracked open 5 or 6 nuts some were ready to eat some a little green yet. So the ones I'm picking up are going into a sack and hanging to dry.
