4630 Rear wheel trouble

Brother has a John Deere 4630 with clamp on duals. The problem is that the left rear wheel wants to creep in on the axle shaft while working the tractor. We have installed new clamp collar bolts and re-torqued them after its been worked for a little while and the wheel still works inward. Tried this several times with no success. Axle is good and clean and in good shape and the adjuster works well. So the question is what is the fail proof way to stop this from happening? Thanks for your help.

I always heard that clamp on duals was only good for about 100 horsepower . Has the hub been run loose before ? Does it do it with out the duals on .?

Never had a problem until we put new rubber on it about a year and a half ago, loosened everything up then. Also never worked it with just the singles. I was thinking of maybe using a .020 shim in the taper wedge. Thanks.

Have you tightened the SNOT out of it, then re-tightened it after a few minutes of use, several times?

Is your movable wedge bottomed out?

We had to replace BOTH wedges in a customer's 4630 this summer, as both were worn from being run loose.

Torque the bolts to spec, then repeat this step unil the torque wrench just clicks, usually I have to do this to a wheel 5 or 6 times before the torque wrench will just click. drive the trctor for about 100 yards, and retorque, and torque the wheels every day for the first week. also, install new hardware.

You need to replace the wedges. That one side is worn and not tightening up. I would not get used as you might get another worn set. I get a few tractors each year that do this.
