806 engine oil pump/pressure

Just finished overhauling the engine D361, with turbo. Ground crank, all bearings plastigauge .0015 to .0018, new cam, and cam bearings. Have good oil pressure when cold, but when it warms up it idles at 0 or just above. I put on a gauge with numbers to tell for sure. IF I rev it up good the pressure is close to 50 psi, then idle it down, it goes to zero, then may come up to .5 to 1 psi. The turbo is getting oil and so is the valve train. Is my oil pump the problem. Someone said relief valve, still have to remove the pump to work on that also. When I overhauled the engine I took the pump apart and cleaned it out real good. I checked the specs for tolerance around the gears, and they where within what the book said. Where should I start, do I need a rebuilt/new pump? Thanks.

Couple more things to think about, the regulating pressure relief valve is in the block and the safety relief valve is in the pump. Either one could have something keeping them from completely closing. Also, the elbow on the head feeding the rocker arms, early model engines metered the oil at the cam bearing, later model used a orfice in that elbow. If you inadverdently put a regular elbow when an orficed one is called for you would push a tremendous amount of oil onto rocker arms and lose oil pressure at lower volume speeds. Other wise I would start pressurizing system and looking for excess leakage. Boy, that is awful tight clearance on that size diesel engine though.

Yes I did put in new cam bearings, did not tank the block. Being that I can get good pressure at higher rpm does that mean my pump is good?

Does the turbocharger oil supply line also use an orifice.

Is the elbow on the head you where talking about on my 806 supposed to have about a 3/16 orfice, that is what it is. I cleaned the relief valve and that didn't help. Thanks
