That is right. Similarly, the W-series was the next generation to follow the U-series (probably should have been the called the V-series). Although Allis kept on making the U-series all they way up to the 1950s, the W-series were much cheaper due to the frame being made out of two pieces of channel iron instead of cast. Possibly the use of this frame type is where the double-u came from?
