A friend of mine brought this over - he bought it at a garage sale for $5.
It is some kind of a measuring instrument. Has 3 legs that it stands on and a center point that screws up and down. I'd say it's at least as precision as a micrometer.
Maybe a device for checking lenses or somesuch?
I told him someone on tractor talk would probably know.
Any guesses?

Looks like when all the points are touching the table top it reads 25. Seems like if it measured holes it would read zero like that.

I would guess that it is a specalized tool to set the stroke on something such as a cam. Also looking at the scale I would say it is in milimeters. DH

It IS an ETD tool. It is for calibrating the automatic tire wear indicator on the main display! Looks like the tool for the left rear tires...

More specifically the left rear main tires. The auxiliaries would require a different tool, though you can use the same tool for the left rear mains and the right front auxiliaries, of course.
