Church Beer tent ...

The wife and i went to the local church fair beer tent last night .
They had Bud and Bud lite flags and posters everyware and the taps were the same way.

When we ordered a pitcher of Bud lite it wasn't Bud lite. I have been to several beer tents this summer and have noticed this problem...

What is going on ? Does Bud sponcer the events and just give them a deal on what ever product they have sitting in the coolers ?

This is just plane wrong that a church is screwing us on our beer now .

I think we we served Busch , i wouldn't give this crap to my dog....

That's kind of a shock to the taste buds, if'n you were expecting something else. Hard to say what the distributors who supply the suds for these events are doing, but personally, I've never liked most of any mass produced beer, though sometimes that is all that there is at events like these. So you grin and bear it LOL, well ..... it is kind of a let down because when you are in the mood for a cold beer and your taste buds are set on something, it is kind of a let down.

Good news is, we live in a great era for craft and quality brewed beers, with some great tasting beers, so the fair was a let down, my fridge at home is not LOL !

I remember what was available 25 years ago and there was nothing like what is out there today, the resurgence of craft brewing has certainly awakened the A.B.'s and similar size breweries.

Hard to figure, so what did they do, substitute something else at these local events, I'd ask the server, what is in that keg ? Was it spoiled or just different. False advertising darn it !

There is nothing more enjoyable than a quality beer, of a style you adore the taste of, in a frosted glass, and I do believe the saying "Beer is proof God loves us" as we sure have some great beers being produced in the U.S. today.

Since when do churches sell beer and have beer tents. It's just plain wrong for churches to sell beer in the first place. Not exactly the place to get drunk which you can be sure some will be by the end of the night.

Bud must hav a big sponcership push on. They are the beer sponcers at our Packers Club this year instead of Leinenkugals. Don't know how the beer tastes as all beer tastes the same to me...bad.

Never could figure out why I can't stand the taste of Bud. Then it occured to me why they have all those horses!

A few months ago I saw a movie called "Beer Wars". It turns out that the three top beers in the country are Miller Lite, Bud Light and Coors Light. So they went to the bar and gave patrons samples of the three beers and asked them to pick out their preferred beer from the other two. The testers failed miserably: Nobody could tell the difference between the three beers, even though they all insisted they could distinguish their regular beer from the other two.

I refuse to drink any of that p-water that the big breweries try to pass off as "beer". There are a lot a good beers on the market these days, and life is too short to waste it drinking cheap beer. My favorite these days is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but there are plenty of other fine beers from independent breweries if that doesn't suit your taste.

Some of you guys act so surprised at a church serving beer!Live a little!

My church is having it's annual "Oktoberfest"(a German thing) today.A polka band will play at the service, followed by lunch.Sauerkraut, brats, dumplings and yes,BEER.It's an overwhelming hit and the ENTIRE community is invited.

As far as the whole "not a Bud light" thing,if you're used to drinking a certain beer from a can or bottle,it's gonna taste TOTALLY different from a keg.Couple that to the fact that the beer sold at a county fair beer garden or church funtion is almost certainly 3.2 beer.Regular beer is usually between 5-6 percent alcohol.

You had your Bud,but not the way you're used to having it.

Not much to ad, but we had almost 800 people at our beer tent Friday night. Us Lutherans know how to have a good time.

I just realized one of two things. I am either:

A: Living in the wrong part of the country.

B: Belonging to the wrong religion.

Holy Cow! A Church Beer Tent? Hallelujah!

They could serve PBR and I would be peachy (and on time!)

All the churches up here have beer tents. It makes them a lot of money. I worked for Busch as an engineer, and the beers are different. They come from the same kettles, but have unique recipes.

How did you know the beer was switched? The kegs should have been labled.

This is just further proof that much of the dialog in many religions has not so much to do with God (or whomever they serve) but it has to do with money. There are many that would roll over in their graves if they knew of any connection between beer and their church.
Lusting after money is the root of all evil, no matter where it is.
The healing preachers have made well on suckers that refuse to believe that God will take care of your needs. If they would stop and think about what the money beggers are saying, they are saying that they have to beg and use guilt trips to raise money because why? Because they obviously do not truly believe that God will take care of their needs. In other words, they tell you to believe God for all of your needs (not your wants) but they can't seem to do that.
And then there are all of these "messages from God". Why would God tell "Reverend Money Bags" that he needs to raise XX amount of money? That is not even in the Bible. That is not what God does, but it sure is what man does.
They are not good stewards of your hard earned money. A very small percentage actually goes toward spreading the word.
Sorry, it is a sore spot. I wish we could pass laws that prevent preachers from preying on the wallets of people looking for healing, miracles, and the like.
You do not have to spend one penny to get more God than you can handle.
If they were truly called by God, they would live a very modest life here on Earth because they would believe that their real riches are in Heaven. But you see that they drive fancy cars, live in mansions, and fly around in multi millon dollar jets. They try to justtify it but if you open your Bible, they are false prophets if there ever were any.
One of the largest satellite network founders preaches against drinking alchhol, but spent thousands of giver's money to have a beautiful wet bar installed in his private suite. How can people be so dumb to giving money to these fakes?

I'd be interested to know where you are, and what denomination the church is. There are no "beer tents" at church functions in my neck of the woods, at least. Is nothing sacred?

My county here, Dubuque Ia., used to have the highest consumption per capita in the USA. Between the German and Irish Catholics here you know beer is flowing. I am a Methodist and my Grand Mother was too. She used to joke that the Catholics would have keg at the end of the line in Mass if they could keep it cold. LOL

Here several years ago a Big beer drinker pasted on. He had requested that there be a keg at his visitation. So Right there at the end of the casket they had three kegs with different kinds of beer. It was one He!! of a wake. LOL The Priest was not feeling any pain either by the end of it all. Several of us provided rides home. (I don"t drink beer don"t like it. Now a good bourbon is another story)

I remember my dad telling me that a bottle opener used to be called a "church key" from the days when the cans had no rip off tops! That is funny.

I would guess that is was 3.2 beer. Some of the clubs in Denver sold a watered down version. It was not true BL.

Most of the south you can't buy beer on Sunday and the one that do can't sell before 1pm, If the church could sell beer it would be the biggest church in the state of N.C.

Wow churches selling beer!! In my neck of the woods you have to drive to the state line or a couple of counties over to buy "legal" beer or liquor. Besides the meth cookers at church wouldn"t want it to cut into their profits.

I don't know that they were switched ! I do know after many years of testing the differance .

I wasn't the only one saying the same thing.

Back in August we were pulling in the Armada fair and that was the stink prior to me even going in the tent.

I was a victim of a mixed marriage my dad was catholic and mom was a southern baptist. Dad use to say alcohol was gods way of making sure even ugly people can have kids.

They weren't drinking water at the Last Supper. They were drinking wine and what do you suppose wine consists of.

Local guy here was feeling no pain on his way home from local watering hole, that is until he ran into the side of a passing train. Not being much of a church man, they held the wake at his favorite tavern.

His daughter didn't make it- she got busted for drunk driving on her way there. That family sure put the "fun" in disfunctional.

Who said anything about getting drunk. Beer is like everything else in life, used properly there is nothing wrong with it. All things in moderation. If alcohol was intrinsically bad it would not have been at Cana or the last supper.

Yessss, now I see it. All these years I thought it was the "beechwood aging". There's a dairy here that advertises their milk by saying: "It's the cows". Budweiser should do the same by saying: "It's the Clydesdales". (;>))

Around here (Southeastern Indiana) the Catholic Churches have festivals with gambling and beer tents. The Protestant Churches have dinners and a raffle and maybe a craft show. Last year I think I managed to have a Turkey dinner a week for a month (Presbyterian, UCC, and American Legion). The Catholic Church in Dover (second oldest in the state) has a good Chicken dinner and craft show too. I think they also have a festival with beer and gambling.

And you think all the people there are going to drink in moderation. Somehow I can"t see that happening. Way too many, young and old(mostly young) will go there for more than just a few. i really don"t see that as acceptable at a church. 1 or 2 is fine(IMO) but too many are going to have more.

I don't approve or disapprove of beer tents, church or otherwise. I was just making an observation about different ideas in different parts of the country. Paul

Hard to screw up a can of beer or bottle but it's real easy to ruin a tap beer with dirty heads, joe blow letting a glass of foam settle into a beer, plastic cups, etc.

As for selling beer at church, the only reason I step on the property of churches here is for the beer fests.
