ugly tractors

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I always see pics of beautifully painted up tractors. What I really want to see are original "uglies" I will try to load a pic. of our 756 diesel with over 20,000 hrs. on it. Lets see some.

This was the trip home. Def ugly and lots of ferrous oxide!

Wanted an ugly tractor that would not draw attention of local thieves in the DFW metro area.

Nancy drove "Rusty" on Wednesday afternoon to mow the right-of-way.

"Rusty" may not be one of our "cleaner" tractors, but we've done a lot of mechanical/electrical improvements.

From front to back:

replaced wheels bearings and felts,

new front tires
,

new radiator core,

rebuilt generator,

new belts,

new hydraulic fittings,

rebuilt carburetor,

new hoses,

new wiring,

new battery and cables,

new starter button,

new steering cover,

new seat and back pad

Little tractor does exactly what we need it to do.

Here is my H when I got it. I put matching tires and a muffler on it, but it is still pretty ugly. Runs great now that I rebuilt the mag and changed the head gasket, and I use it a lot in the woods.

This old gal has been in the family for 51 years and still works almost every day.

I'd love to clean it up and at least put a decent paint job on 'er, but I don't want to be without the use of it that long.

I'd also love to take it just like it is to our local antique tractor show on July 4th, and park it next to all of the over-restored tractors on the show with a sign, "Works every day, doesn't have time to look pretty".

This was last fall, sometime in October I think digging to put a water line in to the barn with my 202 Massey Ferguson Workbull. I was trying her out before buying her. She's still just as ugly but I just found a hood for it, should be here in a few days. Since that pic I've installed electronic ignition, fixed the governor, removed the exploded 3pt. pump, designed and installed full hydrostatic power steering, repaired a cylinder on the backhoe, replaced the loader control valves, gave her a tune up, removed, cleaned and remounted the carb probably 2 dozen times, put in a new sediment bowl, flushed out the gas tank, replaced the manifold and valve cover gaskets, adjusted the tappet clearance, fixed up the wiring (new ign. switch, headlight switch, headlights etc.), replaced the starter drive, replaced starter solenoid................whew!!!! Seems like it's been a 10 year project!
Once I get the hood I will start making her prettier! But the main thing is, it digs well and I think..........I think I have most of the major bugs out of it.

Edit: Forgot about making new seat covers and bases for the tractor and backhoe seats........noticed in the picture that I was sitting on a boat cushion.
My wife got another horse so she can't say anything about the time/money I spend on the tractor!

well this is my ugliest one the others look better, but some of you have me beat here, this jubilee works everyday either mowing, pulling my feed/water trailer, or other small jobs

Red Power magazine some issues back had a picture of a"junk" b farmall that ended up being one of the frameall experimental tractors. Any way they included a picture of this basketcase and it looked just like the one that I mow my lawn with! Only the rear wheels are painted and the rest is rust brown/red some dents . that made me step back and re-evaluate mine!

Here's mine before I dismounted the front loader and mower. Think I'll put them back on and put a hunter orange bucket on the loader to distract from the rest of the tracter
