Any one use one ?

When I was young they used to have one like that at the coal company. You backed up to a boxcar of coal and this shovel was in rhere to load your truck with. But I don't think they were quite that big.

Fellow on another forum looking for info on it. This is something he just acquired in the follow me home section here is info on a tag that's on it . I tried to Google info, but no history on it

They were used to unload boxcars before the advent of enclosed hopper cars.Cardboard with steel straps inside were nailed across the doors.Called steel-corr (I believe)???.Boxcar door was opened and the carboard was ripped out. Then when the grain or fertilizer stopped flowing, this device was hooked to a winch to pull the grain out the door(.A two man operation----I get the run the winch !) Never had the pleasure(lol) but I saw them used. Haven't seen one for about 50 years. Talk about earning a buck ! That was back when men were men.lol.
