OT: Malibu Maxx has bad breath

A friend has an 04 Malibu Maxx with bad breath. Used a spray from NAPA to put into the A/C's intake and it only covered up the small for a short time.

Some web sights say you should put a cup of bleach in the evaporator drain tray to clean up the smell in a central A/C. Kinda hard to do in a car.

Years ago I saw on 2 guy's garage a new product where they insert a hose in a car's drain hose and inject a foam that cleanes the evaporator's coils. Is this still on the market? If so, what's it called and where can I buy it?

Does anyone have their own cleaning idea. Not interested in any more sprays.

Thanks, George

In my home wall-type AC, I open the inside cover and spray down liberally with Lysol spray. Cleans it right up. Probably should crawl underneath, and see that the drain in the bottom of the AC unit is unplugged and clean.

On the Toyota's (Maybe most cars), the AC Coil is located behind the glovebox. If you take the ducting off the one side, You should get a good enough view of the coil to dump somthing in.

If the coil looks like something from outer space, have the AC system discharged, pull the coil and pressure-wash it.

Google GM service bulletin 99-01-39-004C.

I installed these at the dealer back in the day and they work.

Brad,
I googled the service bulletin and only got that there was a problem, they want to sell me access to the tech info, or I pay $23 to talk to a GM service teck. What do I need to buy and where can I get it to fix the problem? Thanks
George

I'll look it up tomorrow if I remember.
Drop me a line, I usually check this board at lunch.

Marrk, No idea about cabin filters. Hoping someone could educate me about the problem and how to fix it. George
