This morning I finished a discing jobm about a couple hours total time. Cut some sticks for my daughter's porch railing, and started assembly of that project. Worked a little on my tractor. Tonight I can hardly put one foot in front the other. I don't think I am that old at 68. Anyone else just pooped out at the end of the day? Stan

That's the way I was in the spring of 2005. At the age of 48.

After about 10 hours of tractor time I could go no more. I was able to go 16 the spring before.

July 15 I was in the hospital. Found out I had Luekemia. I've been on medication and in remission for 4.5 years. I'm back to 16 hours a day if needed.

Get a good check up with a blood test.

That is because you are the same age that I am and I feel about the same way after a good day of putzing around. Dang it.

ame here..........sucks don't it?

I felt that way for several years, last March I had a heart attack. I now have 2 stents, lots of meds & feel better than I've felt in years. I'm 59. Lost a Hi School class mate this week to a heart attack at age 58. My family Doc was clueless. Get to a heart Doc & get checked out!!

A word of advice, save something to do for tomorrow. There is nothing like being retired and not have something to do:)

I got old at 65.I had trouble with my ankles swelling, feet burning.Sweating in cold weather.Went the doctor at age 70 when stress ran my blood pressure up.Had fluid in one lung.Doc says I have touch of congestive heart failure.Blood pressure is normal now but heart rate is too fast.We had temps in the 90s with high humidity during August , had to get my work done in the morning.Go see the Doctor, your Medicare will pay for the visit.Medicare costs me 90 bucks a month so I use it.I took meds for 6 months to lower blood pressure and take one Lasix in the morning.Lasix helps get rid excess fluid and costs me 4 bucks a month. In any case age will get to you even if you are in good health.I have two younger friends tell me that the heat and humidity gave them much trouble.

Get a sleep study to see if you have Sleep Apnea. Very common problem. If you have Sleep Apnea you will stop breathing repeatedly through the night. It prevents you from entering into the level of sleep needed for rest and dramatically lowers your oxygen saturation levels.
I know exactly what you mean. You don't have energy to put one foot ahead of the other.

I thought when I retired, I would be bored. It has been a little over 2 years and I have been busier now than I have ever been. Everyone says "you are retired with all that free time. Could you do this or that for me?" Caller id on the phone works for me. And doing things outside makes me feel a lot better.

This year the heat along with the humidity has been worse than usual so take it easier when your body says it's time to slow down. And get a good check up with your doctors. Besides, they need another car payment.

I"m 69 so I know the feeling. However,
a couple of years ago, I began taking a "power nap" almost every day.
After lunch, I lay back in my Lazy-Boy and instantly fall asleep. I usually wake up in 20 minutes but sometimes I might sleep for up to 40.
When I get up I feel ready to go again.
I find the 20 minutes I give up more than pays for itself in increased productivity.
Am I just lucky that I can almost always fall asleep as soon as I lay down? I don"t know, but I attribute some of it to the Lazy-Boy my wife bought for my birthday in "69. " been reupholstered once already and ready for another but I truly believe they don"t make them as good today as they did then.

i have a coffee cup with the following printed on it: I used to do three or four things a day and now it takes three or four days to do one thing. It might just be age [I'll be 68 next week.

I was going to get one of those sleep test until they said it would be $5000. Figured if I did that the price alone would keep me awake.

Gary I am not saying a good Physicalis not in order. You and I know each other, but you will find. There is a difference between 53 and 68. I will be 69 in 2 months and 2 weeks. I can tell you that I cannot even start to do what I did at 53.

I worked construction with my Dad. I was in my 30's, he was late 60's. Couldn't keep up with him. We arrived at the job site one day and he said he felt tired and was going to take a nap. Mid afternoon he finally got out of the truck. Next day same story except he didn't get out of the truck all day. Next day he stayed home. A couple days later he was in the ER. Turns out he was a diabetic. He went to a doctor for his diabetes. Nurse told him to start walking in the evening......she said to start by walking to the end of his driveway and back, and work up to walking to the neighbor's house. He laughed and said he worked construction. She said not any more! He was what I think they called a brittle diabetic. That means uncontrolable diabetic. Doctors were little help. He read up on diabetes and figured out he needed to take two kinds of insulin. Took a couple years but he finally got it somewhat controlled. Even worked a little but was never the same. Started feeling bad again and found he needed bipass surgery. Never had it. Someone gave him some suppliments called CQ10. I was skeptical at first. After three weeks of taking that he went from barely being able to walk from the bed room to the kitchen, to being able to run all the way around the outside of the little league field after my son's game. Shoulda have the bipass then but didn't. Died of a heart attack at 76.
Get checked for diabetes, and get your heart checked!
