Purely Looks (The Best Tractor)

Okay guys in terms of looks which tractor really is pleasing to your eye? Is there one tractor that really has that extra aesthetic value over others? Detail it here.

The four number series Olivers are some good looking iron The V8 cat powered ones with front wheel assist looked tough and worked well Just my opinion

Minnie Mo UDLX was and is the best styled tractor i ever saw.
Ford 6000 [the white one] on the other hand has got to be the ugliest [and i love Fords]

"DX" Series Massey Ferguson (100 series/1100Series)

66 series IH's, ESPECIALLY 1066/1466, prefer open station over cabbed

Generation II Deere's

I always liked the look of the early Ford PowerStar's (40 series) with the white roof and sloped hood... but really I don't spend too much time thinking about asthetics of farm tractors.

IH '06/'56 series.especialy 1206.Case 1030;Ford 7000,8600,9600.Most tractors from the late '60s(except JD--they're ugly)

Gotta go with Farmall letter series.

there are a lot of beatutiful tractors so ill name a few of my favorites

oliver: 1655, 1755, 2255
jd: 3020, 4020
Ford: 5000 RC, 7000 RC
MM: G1000 Vista, G750
White: American 60/80, 2-105

my top 3 would be the 1655, 1755 and G1000 Vista

I too like the tractors of the mid to late sixties. The Olivers, Farmalls, Minnies, etc., But my FAVORITES are the Comfort King thirty series CASES. Absolutely beautiful in my opinion.

I have to agree, I love to see the 30 series completely restored. I would love to have a restored 730 non Case-O-Matic like we had, but no room to keep it.

There are a bunch I like the looks of, adn not all Fords, but I think the Commander 6000 with the short-wheelbase wide front might be my favorite based just on looks. 42/52/7200 also.
(aka the 4000, 5000, and 7000 rowcrops)

When we visited a cousin in Sweden, we found he had a fairly new Lamborghini 250+ Hp FWA tractor. Now that WAS a good looker, and a heck of a worker. I have never seen one in the US.

The AC D-21 last series to me just looked mean and nasty at the farm shows pulling 6 bottom plows eating up the competition while home on leave from the service then next at the tractor pulls looking even nastier. I also have to agree the Oliver 2255 FWA with the CAT motor looked pretty nasty too.

I've got to love the looks of a D17. And the one I've got will work itself to death and not complain once.

I like the John Deere BR. Snazy but from the late 30s.
The Ford 5000 looks good too, I like a lot tractors, but I dont have the money to buy all the ones that look great.

We have an old Farmall like that in one of our sheds. How good are those as overall utility tractors? Decent power? Gas mileage?

Ah yes, the Ford 5000 is a good looking tractor. I

I would have to say the tractors from the 50s to late 70s have a look and style to them that todays tractors just dont have. With that said I love the look of the 50 series Olivers, Case 930 Wheatland Comfort King, and the D series A-C. And yes I do own them and they are work horses. We have 2 1550 Olivers gas and diesel, D17 high clearance, 930 Case wheatland hand clutch and 4 other tractors. Her is a pic or 2 of them. Bandit

(quoted from post at 19:17:37 09/12/10) D 21 is pretty cool but lets back this up with some pics. guys

There are numerous tractors I like but for some reason the MF165 just seems cool to me. I could be biased though because I love Massey Ferguson's.

i like my tractor the most, new generation deeres with a rollbar, and 70 series cases are sharp, and always liked 66 series IH.

Great Thread.
Purely for looks i'd have to pick one of the Cockshutts. Ballistic nose, nice lines to the rest of the tin. And the yellow and red are excellent together. The Ollies - 77, 88 etc with the side tins are likely my second favorite.
And I know a lot of you don't like the little Fords but one of the reasons they sold so dog gone many of the 8Ns is because they are handsome little buggers. Enough so that mama gave the final nudge and the old man signed on the dotted line.
Uglyest to me are some of the Molines. Boxy things. Even the Russkies built some better looking tractors than those.
To those who don't much pay attention to how a tractor looks I just say that I wish they could.
Aesthetics are a big part of life.

I couldn't agree with you more about aesthetics. Even if a tractor is merely a tool for work an overall admiration for beauty must be evident. As for Fords I admit, I really like the looks of the old 9N's, 8N's, and NAA's.

Probably the most pleasant looking tractor ever is
an International Farmall 656. With its flat top
fenders exactly level with the hood and the rather
long hood, and the seat placement and height, it
has perfect appeal to the eye. Also the spindles on
the front axle are correct to add to the look. Muffler
,also, is placed right for added appeal.. Other
candidates: Ford 5000 with the proper sized tires-
front axle & spindles just right. Always liked the
looks of a 4020 Deere with pony front. And of
course a 1066 just can't be beat. A series III or IV
AC D-17 ain't bad either.

On just looks alone the two I have always liked are the Double number Olivers with full side panels and the Ford 01 series 861 etc.

That is one mean looking Powermaster. I love the side panels on that Oliver.

I gotta go with the "H" Farmall. The shape and proportions are just right. I have to add the Graham-Bradley as an honorable mention. That's a truly beautiful machine.
Good Luck and God Bless

I agree with the H and a close second is the 350 mentioned below with correct paint color. Next would be the 1568 with a red cab and the dual chrome stacks.

I've always been partial to the Allis D15.

I also like the JD 3150/3155. Unlike other 50 and 55 series tractors, all of these were MFWD used the same wheel size. It was the best looking configuration.
