If you intend to vacation at the Front Range area of Boulder to Loveland Colo. I would keep an eye on the fire danger as it exists right now. At last report 136 Homes have been torched by the wild fires going on there. Dead Pines are fueling the fires which appear to be out of control.

No significant beetle kill in the area of the fire, it's fueled mostly by old growth and the 4--50 mph winds...west of the continental divide is where most of the beetle kill is, if fire gets into that...won't be pretty. Fire danger is high all over the state, not just Boulder to Loveland.

For the original question, leaves are starting to turn I believe. 9news usually has a section on their website for fall colors.

Spent a couple days in the mountains near South Park (yes, its a real place) over the weekend. A few of the Aspens were just starting to show some change, no color yet. Seems to be a little later than usual this year.

So? Your point is? Never said the fuel was Beetle killed Pines but: If you would take a trip up around Gold Hill and Nederland and over too Central City and Black Hawk you will find Beetle Kill damage last year was on a massive scale. The people in these areas are holding their breath and hopeing the fires don't reach them.
