Just got the last of my firewood home today. Started cutting early spring. Had everything down and cut, but the woods got too wet to get in there with my 4WD truck. Waited all summer, but it never dried out (all steep mountainside).
I've got a 40 acre hardwood lot I picked up for $18,000 and it has some huge red oak, white ash, hard maple, cherry beech, hickory, etc.

So, took my 1960 Deere crawler-loader over there and got everything out with that.

All home now and cut, but I've got a lot of splitting to do.

Little 6 year kid got his first cross-country ride on a crawler and really enjoyed it. It was about a 2 mile trip through the woods and across the mountaintop.

I have one more field of hay to bale and it s time to cut wood . Told my wife I was ready for the change . Went out with my help yesterday scouting the wood and deer situation . Cant do a hole big bunch myself any more but I have some good help . Love this time of yr.
 
Up State NY if I remember right. Do the mosquitoes bother in the woods? I trimmed a few evergreen trees this morning and the mosquitoes were thirsty!! Southern MN.
 
Photos in Otsego County, central NY. Mosquitoes have been the worse here in years. They are usually long gone by late summer, but not true this year. Same goes for northern Michigan. Funny thing is, in the central Adirondacks - where it's usually the worse, not so bad.
 
i am in northern wi it cooled off this weekend so the bugs were not bad been helpin a freind hay when the rains quit it is a 67 2000
 
Thank goodness I got all my wood done this spring and then didn't have to worry about it once the warm weather hit. May start on next winters wood this fall if I get some spare time.
