C. H. Wendel seen him yesterday

I was at Mt Plesant yesterday, and had the privalage of seeing Chuck. He acted like he rememberd me, but I'm not certian.

With his permision I will coment on his condition. Years seldom do any of us favors, Chuck walks with a cane, and my guess he has had a stroke at one time. He was in the printing press department at the Mt. Plesant show. He was in a hurry to catch someone, so we did not talk long. I would guess his mind is normal for his age.

There was always alot of wisdom in one package when you asked him questions, and I hope that the good Lord will keep him around for many years to come.

Yes Chuck had a stroke some years back. I remember talking with him at the Mt. Pleasant show about 10 years or more ago. I had him sign some books of his that I had bought. They were the original hard cover books such as; "150yrs of IHC, The AC story, Oliver Hart Parr, etc. I cheerish these books now.
Glad to hear he is doing fine.

I guess we all suffer from the terminal illness called "aging."

He's done a fantastic job on tractor books. I've got a big hard-cover book for just about every major tractor brand, along with Nebraska Tests and big general catalog of "Farm Tractors." Wendel must have an amazing amount of patience and a love of machinery.

I explained his life to my new friend, after we were part way home she suggested all us sending him a card to thank him for all his efforts---yea, she is the type that would think of something like that. Imagine some folks sending a thank you for something you had done twenty years ago. I gave her a A- Plus for that one.

Just when I was a thinking, now here is a real keeper, she remarked that It was a get even statment to match all the cool things I had taught her while we were there.

Neither one of us wrote down where he said he lived, let alone a address. His wife is from a neighboring town, so maybe I can back track the buss, and get his address --- If my lady friend can remember her maden name. My money is on she will remember.

Thanks for the information, Iowa.

I have several of CH's books, and consider all of them to be well worth the price paid.

Hopefully, someone will realize the opportunity and continue to write similar books on the subject.

For us that are in the tractor industry ( made my life in it for over 40 years) he is the man.
His books are some of the best reference material or just plain reading I have ever had..Glad to hear from him..
