So much apples and pears this year that the trees (mostly old) are breaking. Local juicer is paying 2 bucks for 100kg delivered and dumped in the washer (twice the work/handling for the poor slug that happens to have trees) not even worth the fuel and W&T on a tractor or getting your car dirty. Older folks can't even give the stuff away so they shake the trees, pick up what they can use, and have me bring the horses to clean up. Last year was a plumb nut year, with empty trees and bushes this year. I used to send boxes of hazelnuts to my mom and brother but can't even find one for myself this year.

Done now.

Sounds like you need a better thinning program for your trees. If you let them carry all the fruit you end up with a crop every other year.

Try removing up to 50% of the fruit on the heavy years just after they start to form. You will find that you have a better looking crop and healthier tree.

Good luck.
