new rebuild no oil pressure.

It works the 8-n started. But I have no oil pressure!!!!!! Everything was hot tanked at a machine shop and all lines had been blown out. oil pump had minimal backlash. all passages were blown out prior to building I just don't get it. any thought would be very helpfull thanks, Trevor

There may be several oil gallery access plugs (internal) that were removed and not replaced. Pull the pan and look up into it with a good light.
I would use either a pump oilcan, or a drill pump, to charge the oil gallery from a can of engine oil. A small piece of rubber or vinyl hose can be used to seal the oil can into the hole now connecting the gauge. If pumping oil into this seems very easy and never gets harder, there is a major internal leak. With the pan off, pumping oil in as above will show you exactly where it is leaking. There is no oil going above the valve chamber, so it must be seen in the crank case. Jim

Did you put any oil in the pump after you had it apart so it would prime and did you prime the pump?
Did you check the pump for oil flow with w can of oil by hand ? Are the cam bearings, and rod and main bearings right so the holes in the bearings are aligned with the block and rod galleys for the oil to flow?

Did you check at oil galley on engine? If you didn't, do, because you may have pressure. If none there then might be a plug left out some where. Did you prime the pump?

Make sure the oil pick up tube is not cracked or leaking and make sure the relief valve is not stuck open.

i pull the relief vale out of the timing caseand it was under spring tension. but the end just sits in small concaved area. but all was very clean

Several ways. Put a fitting on the block where you can "T" into it and pump oil there till you have pressure on gauge. Another, remove oil pump and pack with Vaseline.
While oil pump is out sit in oil and spin to make sure it is pumping but still pack with Vaseline before putting back up.

I wonder if a pipe plug was removed from the block that's drilled into the oil gallery during the cleaning and wasn't reinstalled. Hal

Did you prime the oil pump in a clean container of oil before reinstalling it on the engine? Hal

i will try to prime the oil pump thru the oil pressure relief port tomorrow. i've got alot of case oil in the barn 90+ weight. hopefully that does it. I will let ya know. and thanks for all the help. it's always good talkin' to you guys. trevor

If you have an O'Reilly parts store close by, they have a prelube tank in their loan a tool program. I bought a long block from them once and in order for the warranty to be valid, they required me to borrow the tank to prime the engine. It's real easy to do. Just fill the tank with oil, plumb it in the oil pressure gage port on the engine, pressurize the tank with air, and open a valve.
