Freak Incident -OT-

I was bobtailing in a single axle semi yesterday down the interstate at 70 mph when the 3ft chrome exhaust stack on the top side of the muffler along side the cab decided to come off and flew back and hit the one drive tire. The tire catapulted it forward and it passed the truck up and all I seen was a quick glimpse of something shiney out my window. I knew I didn't hit any thing cause I didn't hear any thing. Well a few miles down the road I was at my destination and decided to look if I lost any thing. Sure enough the stack was gone and the tire had a big chunk out of it. I did go back and find the $130 chrome pipe and slavaged it. I was lucky it didn't come thru the rear cab window.

a few summers ago we were in PA on vac going down the hwy. In the rght lane about to move left to pass a semi in front of me. A lot of room between us. Something bounced out from under trailer at me I had time to move left as I was about to anyways. The windshield fogged up and the car filled with fumes. The trucks chrome stack end had come off gone down and bounced beneath the trailer. It then hit the diesel tank for the reefer unit which sprayed all over the road. I tried to get his attention but he was too busy on his phone and thought I was nuts.

a couple yrs ago my wife was driving to work on a mainly empty road, she was overtaken by a semi with an big old wooden flat roofed shack swaying too and fro on the highboy behind him, seconds later a second semi pulled up behind her, wanting to pass her too.

at that moment the shacks roof on the truck in front of her became air born and landed right in front of her, there was no way around it as the ditch was very steep and the second semi(loaded with a similair shack) was now beside her.So she held on for dear life and pounded over that shattered roof.

She managed to stay on track when she ran over it but was severely shaken up when she stopped, the car had only one flat and the exhaust was ripped off
Neither of these trucks stopped and kept on going.

The funny thing was that calling 911 twice did not result in ANY action by the cops other than a call if she was OK.
We never heard a thing about it again.

The daughter was on I696 behind an industrial machine on a low boy. The machine in transit didn't clear an over pass and the top part sheared off and came back and impaled my daughters car hood and killed the engine. She didn't know whether to feel lucky or unlucky. The truck never stopped as the driver didn't know he had lost anything.
