Ever had this happen?

I woke up yesterday and my knee was hurting. I thought I could walk it off, but by evening I was in real pain. Today it isn't much different need a cain to walk, so it doesn't hurt so bad. The only thing maybe started it was the previous day I was on my knees cleaning some corn, and kneeling using my pressure washer cleaning the mud off my tractor after getting it stuck up to the cednter of the tracks, and needed a pull. That's another story. I'm 65, Is this how it's going to end? I think if I get up on my tractor I can still atleast mow, because sitting isn't so bad, I just wouln't use my left brake. This time I should have listened to my wife and gone to the doctor yesterday. Stan

Yup, I"m just 50 and its starting. Be careful mowing, it"s fine until you open that nest of yellow-jackets, now with a bent wheel you will have a hard time beating a hasty retreat.

When you get our age, you have to be really careful to not get even a tiny stone or stick under your knee when kneeling. It takes a long time for the bruise to go away.
Good Luck.

I am a "young" 69 year old and stuff happens now that didn't before. I plan every move now before I lift something or pull a big wrench. Just a fact of life. Doctors don't help much with old age pains and aches.

My mother had a similar issue after picking strawberries. It had something to do with her bursa(?) on her knee. Had to have fluid removed inthe end.

Could be several things.

I had arthroscopic surgery a few years ago. It took care of the pain but I have to be careful about what I do and how I do it. Like Jim, I plan most every move.

I'm 67 and I'll just say BINGO! to what Jim SC said below.

My dad bumped his on a rock while hunting, not a bad lick at all, just kind of fell on it. He kept going and that night or next day he was in serious pain. Ortho doc told him that it was a nerve in there somewhere causing the problem and there was really not much to do with it as long as he could walk on it. Doc told him he had the same thing, he had fallen at a Braves game. Dad asked how long it took to get over it. Doc said it had been about 9 months and it still hurt. Been about 3 or 4 years and its still nagging some he says.

My knees have hurt for last few years but not so as to keep me from working and or go pheasant hunting, just slower. Couple of months ago, one just let go, I too was using a cane for just one day. It got better again so no more cane but it seems to just gradually get worse. Lifting and carrying any amount of weight really sets it off. Couple weeks ago , did a range transmission shift cover repair job on a 966 with cab, man, could hardly walk for a couple days but it got better again. The leaning over with pressure on the knees was even worse than climbing in and out of that cab. I go for a walk every morning, carry cell phone along now, told wife if it plays out she has to come and pick me up. I will be 74 in a couple of weeks.

wear a tensure bandage for a week to a month it will help push out the fluids and tighten up the joints.

I have had knee problems ever since I was in the navy some days are worse then others and some days I need my knee brace others I do ok with out. I have had surgery on my right knee did ok for about 6 months and then back to the same thing. Concrete is the worse at least for me so I stay off of it as much as I can.

I must be the youngest to post on this one at 46, but I have had knee problems from the time I was 13 years old. Had a growth spurt and grew 11 inches one summer. Ended ripping the top of my tibia off. Ran around for 20 years + with a bone embedded inside my patella tendon. had it removed in 02. Took about a mont to walk correctly. Still have problems with standing too long or walking long distances. Also will be brought up short when a nerve becomes active. Not fun or a pretty sight to see me when that happens.

I guess it is a age thing. My elbow is infalmed, and hot feeling. From the same day cleaning mud from my tractor. was leaning on it also. I didn't mention it because the post was getting long enough. My other elbow also hurts from falling in my garden, climbing over my rabbitt fence.

yep,its all downhill from now on.

sore knees,need glasses,.....WHAT...cant hear ye.

Sorry honey..not tonight...eh..tomorrow don't look good either.

Could be a case of bursitis. Take it easy for a few days and it should go away. I get it in my left knee a couple a times a year. Hurts like He11.

You were kneeling? I'm 61 and haven't been able to kneel for about 3 years. I put a post on about a week ago about how much elastic bandages have helped my joints. It may be worth a try. The doctors couldn't do anything for me.

I have a rubber saddle pad that I confiscated from wife's tack room. Its denser than regular foam rubber, and just about indestructible. I hang it on a nail in my shop, and just automatically grab it when I have to kneel. Used it to roof the house, as well- much more comfortable than knee pads.

Another thing that works well if you have to root around on the floor is an office chair mat. Don't get the kind with the buttons underneath that grip the carpet.

It might be an age thing but I'm only 37 and I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee 4 years ago to repair a some torn cartilage. It used to just lock up on me and send pain shooting if I'd walk too far. It has been better since but is still tender and I'm noticing it clicking more and more as time goes on. I really need to take some weight off it (in other words lose some weight) and stop lifting things that I shouldn't but I'm stubborn.
Past few years my hands, knees, hips and shoulders have been painful, might be early signs of arthritis but not much I can do about that.

So it's not just age related but I think it has to do with how we have treated our bodies over the years.

dont be afraid of total knee replacement Iam 72 sufferd for years with knee pain. drove a truck for 40 yrs had both knees replaced in 07 best thing I ever done, was down about 3 weeks then back to work took about 60 days to be easy with mynew knees have not had any pain since
