Had to bale that last 7 acres in the rain, but we got 'er done.

Now, I gots to haul something like 375 bales home; 231 of which has to cross this darned canyon. :>(

Onwards and upwards. :>)

So, lets see- got the hay done; I think you also got the grain done; so anything left except pickin' and grinnin' (and postin')? Oh, yeah- I suppose some of that annoying "fall work" that I hear so much about from my crop farming friends. . .

As James Howell can testify, trees just kind of get in the way. So I think Allan is just happy not to have any. And its western Nebraska- trees would just not be appropriate. . .

Yes, trees sometimes get in the way.

Nowdays utility poles are also becoming a hazard.

===========================================

Allen, glad you got all your hay put up.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Gotta get the hay hauled and the wheat planted.

Oh yeah, and finish breakin' that damned horse that has all of a sudden taken to going into bucking fits every time I crawl aboard 'er.

So far she hasn't pitched me, but one of these day's, if she keeps it up, I'm gonna get me a big club and do a little bit of hair parting! :>)

Hay Allen; Do all of us on this forum have to chip in and buy you a can of spray paint to get rid of those yelllllow wheels? Now you are done haying, I bet you will address that issue, or we will keep busting on you. You send great pics. and I enjoy seeing all of them. It's really nice to tour the farms in our country and find out what is going on each night.

Hey, there's a tree in that canyon.........

You know of course, if that horse takes a mind too, she will stop on a dime and throw you into one, instead of a nice soft mud wallow.

Yeah,

That's the only color wheels the tire shop had.

Guess I'd better paint the suckers to keep ya'll happy. :>)

Just roll them down down in the canyon, then you only have to haul them halfway...UP the other side. :? :? :?

Onwards and UPWARDS

Great pictures Allan, as always. Now if you paint those wheels, everyone will have to find some other reason to pick on you. LOL

Darned canyon is nastier than the pictures let on and the 'road' is waaayyyyy, way rough.

I haul 11 bales at a shot and always "hope" I make it up that other bank without loosing about half of 'em. :>(

Allan: About those yellow wheels: I happen to think that if you are able to get by with them it is ok with me. I enjoy mixing and matching and making do with whatI have or can get without spending a bundle. I would enjoy seeing some more photos and updates of your original Gleaner and I do enjoy your picking and grinning!!! Just a few of my humble opinons. Armand

Hey Big Al,,,,,,Up here in your favorite part of the world,,,,nwND we have had RAIN RAIN RAIN so i am just getting a good start on our praie and slew hay,,,,,Its as green as June ever was,,,,,Sooooooooooooo,,,If your bord and want some more hay to cut come on up and il let you drive my old John Deere,,,With no cab,,LOL

How many cutting do you get out there? Just one?
Also, you cant mow that canyon do you? How are there no weeds/brush growing up? Is it that dry out there that the weeds dont even grow?

I heard a week ago that some in N.E. Iowa had their 4th cutting of Alfalfa laying on the ground. I think that is unusual here.

No fence rows with trees do I see in your part of the world, just uninterrupted vistas to the horizon.I've been from east to west in Nebraska on I80 and same for Kansas on I70 and yes there are building sites and fence rows where ever you look but your part of the world seems devoid of "Trees" Just an observation.

Allen, maybee you should put a bridle on em before you ride em. so as you can slow em down a little.

I dunno, half our hay comes out via a 15% grade winding through the woods with deep ruts, I think its all about what you're used too!

I'm always shocked to see what people manage to hay for hillsides. I'm about done once the uphill tire starts spinning much, guys south of here just dual up with small tires on a low tractor and tackle stuff I can barely walk straight up.

(quoted from post at 06:09:38 08/20/10) Hey! Thanks fer the tip!

I knew I was doin' somethin' wrong. :>)
