Jubilee valve adjustor

I"m restoring a Jubilee. The valve adjustment is different than other engines I’ve seen. Normally the type of adjustment is a slot for a screwdriver and a locking nut around those threads. What I have is hex head adjustment, but they don’t have a locking nut on the treads. I plan to find nuts that fit the adjustment and add them to lock the adjusters. The thing that bothers me is the adjusters seem very tight.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me?
Thanks,
Jim

those adjusters are very tight for a reason.do not take them off and put nuts on them.they dont need it. just turn right or left to get the right clearance
