What fuel additives if any are you useing in your older diesel engines? I am about to fire up my "51" D2 Cat. I appreciate all input. Thanks, Phil

I use 1 quart tranny fluid to every tankfull.Works good and keeps carbon down. Hoss

In my book Lucas is the best product on the market. I use it in all my vehicles. and all of our work vehicles and equipment.
Many additives work fine. Main issue is cost. Two-stroke oil is usually the most cost-effective.
Stanadyne and Bosch call for enough lube to allow no more then 460 microns of metal-wear.
Ultra low diesel usually only has enough lube to make 520 microns of wear (not enough).
Add two-stroke oil at a ratio of 1 to 200, and the metal wear drops to 400 microns. So, if a 15 gallon tank, you add 10 ounces of oil. Buy a gallon jug at Walmart and it's probably the cheapest way to go.
Walmart two-stroke oil drops wear by 160 microns when added at a 1 to 200 ratio.
Opti-Lube drops wear by 320 microns when added at a ratio of 1 to 256, but how costly is it?
