I am an American farmer. We produce the cheapest, the safest, the most bountiful, and the least appreaciated food scource in the world.

I'm proud of you for working hard, there isn't too many of us left! I think like two percent of the population, does that sound right?
Well keep up the good work! I will on my end!

Tom

No ya got less help than you think, 2 % live on farms,
1 % does all the work

0.7 of the population is employed in the Agriculture workforce, means you don't have much help.

My hats off to ya !! I do respect your actions.
I appreciate every one of you.

Hard to find a chunk of beef or canned items in a "save a lot" that has American made on it though.
Find lots of stuff American possessed.

guess Ill have to go to another foreign country to get real American beef.

Whoopie don't strain your arm patting yourself on the back.I'm an American farmer too but I don't lick up all the BS the USDA and Industrial Ag companies put out to massage the American Farmer's ego.

I agree 100%. I think what we are seeing here is a farmer just needing to vent. We are consitently bombarded by the media about how bad a job American Farmers are doing by polluting and causing green house gases, etc., etc. In reality we grow more per acre, with less energy input and more environmentally friendly then ever before.

Here's a story from the online version of my local newspaper that says one of my Indiana senators is trying to urge the EPA's boss to use some common sense when dealing with field dust. Seems to me that when a non-elected government agency can just write and make up rules and laws at their whim and unchecked, and we're supposed to adhere to them, that something has gone very wrong in our nation.

No politics intended in this post, just pointing out that a lawmaker is appealing to a non-elected lawmaker about lawmaking.

Well alot of American Farmers are producing food that many consumers don't want Genetically Modified grain, Hormones in beef and milk.Farmers can argue all day about these things being safe, don't hurt anything YADA YADA but they still loose the argument if consumers don't want them.Farmers have forgotten the Golden Rule of marketing 'the customer is always right'.
Suits me though the market for grass fed beef and organic vegetables us about unlimited and prices are well above those mainstream Ag receives for their products.

There is no job, comparable to feeding the world. It is without a doubt the greatest occupation anyone could possibly have.

I don't really know where to place the blame for foreclosures..sales. Govt interference..global competition..inept farming practices?

I do know that given the import numbers I read about, the country better hope embargo doesn't ever cross the suppliers minds. For whatever reason.

Tier 4 engines.

Dust regulations.

Milk as dangerous as fuel, needs conatinment plan.

Zero drift on sprays.

We are entering a touchy-feely phase again, like a few centuries ago. Disconnect with reality.

Won't be a fun time for those of us who are practical, or believe in core truths, or level playing fields.

Probably come around again to common sense for our distance heirs in 300 years or so.

British farmers frequently use the same shtick. The farmers in several countries can lay claim to this "title". Yes we do a very good job, but shouldn't "break our arms" patting ourselves on the back.

Ya, and the rest of the world that we feed would starve to death not getting enough of those products or not being able to afford them. Seems to me pleanty of consumers are buying genetically modified feed grains. YOu must really believe the newspapers.

Delta Red, Something tells me that we would not fit the media's description of a minority.....I mean after all, we all work our arse off for a fair and honest living.....you dont find that with the media's "minorities"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
