HIGHLIGHTS

- There was a total of 64 Super MTA high crop tractors built
- It is believed that less than 20 of those came with a diesel engine as did this tractor
- One of the rarest and most sought after tractors ever produced

DESCRIPTION
Only Made one year, the Super MTA stands out as the Most advanced of the letter series tractors. The major advances were the planetary torque amplifier (TA) and the Live power take-off. The operator pulled a long lever on the left side to bring the TA unit operation. The TA provided a second set of five speeds, The TA reduced speed while increasing the torque. This could be done with the Tractor in Motion, making the MTA the first tractor to have the ability to shift on the move without the use of the clutch.
In 1954 there were 26,924 Super MTA tractors built. Only 64 came from the factory as high crop versions. Only a select few of these 64 tractors came powered by a Diesel engine. This is one of the Rarest and Most sought after IH tractors of all time.

According to IH archives, the 64 they're talking about are all carburated fuel types (i.e. gasoline, distillate, & kerosene). There were 34 diesels built totoal, 32 for export, and only 2 for US production!!!!!!!! Funny how several have popped up, especially this one, I've been to the sellers shop before, funny how he's run on to a SMV, SMDV, MDV, SMTADV, 450HC-LP, 350DHC all of a sudden!! Makes you think!
