Buying tractor or car in another state questions?

So you have found that new car or tractor: or collector car, tractor in Texas and you live in Kansas etc. My question is this what and how is the best procedure to get it home. You would have to licence/insure to drive it and may be make two trips to do all this. As for tractor new or old i guess it would have to be trailered. Any help on this one.
 
I done a number of out of state deals like that. Last one was an F350 dually I bought in AZ. Flew down and drove it home. Just give the VIN to your Ins. agent and they will give you a binder. Every state I have bought one in issued temp permits for liscense. Tractors I just hook to the gooseneck and go get them for the most part. Have had pretty good luck....all in all.
 
Never bought a car out of state but have bought a few, well more than a few, tractors out of state and so, trailering for me has always been the way to go. If it was a car or truck I was going for and I wasn't going to trailer it, that would mean someone would have to take me there, then there would be getting all of the legal paper work and then hoping I would not have any mechanical problems on the way home. If you trailer it, you can go alone, not have any paperwork to worry about in another state and not have to worry about breakdowns on the way home. I say trailer it. LOL.
 
I bought a tractor in Kansas and had it hauled to Ohio, It cost me a $1000 to have hauled just over 1000 miles. It was a whole lot cheeper to do it this way than driving 2000 miles to get myself. There are alot of truckers who will haul it for you just to get home. Bandit
 
If you plan on driving it (car or truck) contact the highway patrol in the state of origin and ask for a "drive-out" permit, they will need to see your drivers license and proof of insurance and charge a fee. Permit is generally good for 3 days to two weeks, long enough to get out of state.
