I only get to see her 1-2 times a week, due to the distance.we talk on the phone 3-4 times daily.she has a fantastic attitude(better than mine).her mind has been exceptionaly clear during this, and due to a medical backgroundshe understood exactly what was happening(I didn't).I'm excited yet I am a little scared that I wont be able to care for her when she finally does come home.We will celebrate our 25th anniversary on Jan.4,it will be an extra speacial time!

That is good news. It is rough when your pardner and best friend gets down. My wife has been in a nursing home for five years. I have dinner with her every sunday. Her mind is sharp and she gives me a laugh every Sunday. One Sunday she was being silly. I ask "Have you been getting some Deep Fork Red (a local wine)? She answered, "H-11 no. But I wish I had some". This coming from a women who had been a church organist for many years. We will celebrate our 60th wedding anneversery on Christmas Day. Good Luck

DeltaRed. Glad to hear she is doing better. I am sure she will be glad to get home. Just tell her for me to take it easy and don't rush things. Let her get back to normal at an easy pace.

getrib. Good to here that you visit your wife at the nursing home. My son is in charge of house keeping at the local home. Tells me the hardest thing for him. Is seeing the people that wait by the front door. Looking for someone they know to show up and no one does. So he makes a point to visit with them everyday.

One thing to remember about a nursing home. They are in it for money which is fine that is the purpose of all of us. Had a big Pow Wow with staff last week. Got a new Director of Nursing Seemed she felt so was in complete charge of my wife. I asked her if she knew what was wrong with her. She studdered around and said "mom had a shunt in her brain and there orders said they were not touch it. "Yes that is correct but do you know why she has a shunt?" Dead silence.
So she got enlightened. The Nerosurgeon has instucted my son and I to monitor it. We know when it needs attention by her actions. More to story than this,
