Simple answer is yes as for the screen you need one that will be small enough that the corn does not just drop out of it but still big enough to more or less hammer it in half or a little more
 
We ground corn and oats for the milk cows many years ago with a hammer mill and used a screen with about 5/8" holes in it and it still had a lot of fines in it.
Id try the largest screen you have and work down if you need to. Ric.
 
I use a 3/8 screen but only run the tractor at half pto speed. It cracks it more than grinds it that way.
