My Allis Chalmers WD45 rolls forward with a jerking motion when the clutch is pushed in and is in gear, but if you just pop it out of gear without doing anything else it will roll forward smoothly. Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hand clutch or foot clutch? It is not uncommon for the hand clutch to drag a little when it is not engaged.

If you have the hydraulic lever in total top position, AC's will do that. You always pull the hydraulic lever back a tad (till you feel everything smooth out), then it'll shift better, roll along smooth, etc. You can feel how much you need to back off the lever. You can also notice the traction-booster guage. It will drop off of full right when you've released the tension enough.
