i can buy a ford 8n, wants $350, maybe down to $300.. tires has good tread, motor is in frame, but pan is out and also the head and cylinders are out cyl.. liners looks ok... no cracks as i could see on block.. metal fair cond.. what would parts bring, or what would be a price for parts to rebuild. thanks

Well first off you sure what it is since an 8N has NO frame the engine its self is the frame. As for the other things you say sorry you do not make much since. You say cylinders are out??? You mean maybe the pistons?? Now as for the tires if they are at all good they are worth around $50-200 each depending on how good they really are

well u r right.. the block has not been removed/taken out of the tractor.. there is no frame, the pistons are out

$300 doesn't sound bad. What are you trying to accomplish?

If you have a similar tractor and want a parts source it's a good idea.

If you want a fun restoration project and want to start with a basket case, it's still a good idea.

If you want to repair and resell it, walk away now. You will probably invest $1500-$2500 to get it going (reliably) and be able to sell it for about $2000 when you are done.

If you want to sell it off as parts and have never done this before, walk away now. Unless you have a good idea of what all the components are worth and know where to get rid of them, it will be hard to justify the time you will spend on that process.

good luck.

Another consideration parting it out- Aren't most N parts reproduced these days? I do have some experience with Model A Fords, and you could quickly go broke trying to peddle used A parts, because virtually everything is reproduced, and they're CHEAP! Are N Fords the same way?

thanks for the replies, my original thoughts were to fix it up and use around the place, but maybe not.. it would get very little use, maybe pulling a small trailer for cleanup etc.. have a nice day

Yes, the N Fords are the same way as the model A Fords. You can just about build a complete, running and driving 8n Ford from scratch.
