Took a day off last Wednesday to cut our hay field.

Started cutting at 11am and finished about 4:30pm.

Only had one minor problem; left 3pt arm lost a pin.

Nice! Which tractor did you use to cut with? Are you going to rake with one of the MT's?

Always love your great photo's of your equipment out in the field.

Thanks for the compliment on the hay.

Took videos of cutting from the seat of "Vernon" our 56 Model 70 using the 9ft JD 350 mower.

Nancy took a video of "Sam" our 51MT and the JD 640 hay rake.

Forgot my password to YouTube and the recent videos are still on the PC at home.

We ended up with 38 4x4 round bales and left at least 5 or 6 of hay on the ground; don't ask - don't tell.

Here are a couple of videos from last year of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYxv_HsWGHg">"Vernon"</a> and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlcFC8Di37s">"Sam"</a> doing what they do best.

Just curious, is it the broken arm that made it take 5 hours? From my math assuming similar yields, it would have taken me just shy of an hour to mow my much rougher fields with my 10 ft mower at 5-6 mph.

Thanks for the compliment on the hay.

We had planned on cutting, raking, and baling during the July 4th holiday weekend.

Got rain all three days; put us back until last Wednesday.

Rained all around us this weekend, but none on the hay.

Hay cured out really good with the 100o+ heat.

Baled all we needed for Nancy's horses; she gave the rest on the ground to our neighbor.

Start cutting, raking, and baling Bahia grass sometime next week.

Embarrasing as it is, yes the broken arm on the right side caused a major problem.

Breakdown on 3pt happened at 2pm in 106o heat.

Went back to the shop to locate "spare" 801 arms.

As expected was not able to find them.

Dismantled 801 arms from another tractor.

Installed 801 arms on "Vernon" and back into service.

Notice that arms are secured by a square head bolt, lock washer, and nut; no pins and hairclips.

Will be working on tractors and equipment this coming weekend; hopefully can get the broken arm repaired and back on another tractor.

Around here that break would be a reinforced weld with plans to fix it right "someday"...unless it held up, in which case there's no reason to mess with it again.

Will try to locate some large, round, bar stock that will fit inside the broken arm.

Probably go into town this weekend and "window shop" at the local scrap yard.

Thanks for the compliment on our hay field.

What you see is the 4th year of our 5 year plan for this field.

Improves every year with a lot of work.
