on the PTO lever what is the difference, besides the obvious for the ground PTO setting and engine PTO setting, when would you use each one?

Have the same on my MF 180. Most all PTO driven impliments you would use would use the engine driven PTO setting, allowing various engine speeds, and ground speeds controled by gear selection.

You would use ground drive PTO on impliments that are used for things where ground travel is needed. This might be things like planters where distance between hills is important - pumpkins, trees, etc. Or PTO driven hay rakes.

MF owners manual explains what it does & why you use it & what implements its used for. They can be ordered from the "link" at left of this page.

Ground speed is very rarely used. It turns in relation to forward travel. Is that wire holding the exhaust up? Dave

One handy thing about those PTOs is that if you plug up something and need to turn it back wards. Just put it into ground speed position and back up and it turns the PTO back wards too.

Ground speed pto was intended for pto driven hay rakes and manure spreaders. It never really caught on beyond the Ferguson/Massey Ferguson line.

Dad told me it came in handy when crimping hay with the 150 when he was younger. If the crimper would plug all he had to do was put the PTO in ground drive and back up. Never had to leave the tractor seat.
