We had some low lifes go through our local cemetary and kick over some tombstones.Mainly they seperated the 2 stones and they have some type of thin concrete looking adhesive that held them together. The finish of course is highly polished so what kind of adhesive do i need to glue them back together?

steve, in the 1st place since its as you say highly polished it isn't limestone but probably granite or a composite of.
just call a local company who specializes in headstones and ask them what they use. generally its some type of epoxy.
i hope they catch the culprits but I doubt it.
good luck.

I have used Gorilla Glue with some sucess on tombstones. Be careful to not use too much as it expands while it cures. Its about impossible to remove the excess when it cures.

Had two of those idiots caught down here. They have been caring for the grounds for three years now. That or go to jail.

There is a guy around town that repairs grave markers. I think he uses epoxy. I will see if I can find him today.

I used Epoxy to glue a stone to a fireplace one time and it is still there after 35 years. I would say a good grade of the type that has some body to it.

To get rid of the excess gorilla glue, cut off what you can with a razor blade and the chuck up an eraser wheel in your drill and it will take the rest off. You can buy an eraser wheel anywhere body shop supplies are sold. It is used to remove silicone tape and such from body panels without damaging the paint.

Sorry to hear of your cemetery vandalism.

Here in Southern Illinois, the local headstone suppliers often repair damaged stones at little or no cost. It always makes the news, and generates a lot of good will and respect for their companies. It would be worth checking into.

Good luck,
Paul

It's called setting compound comes in a gallon bucket, available from any monument industry supply house. It does appear to be the same stuff that seals 2 steel panels like the other guy said. I'm not that familiar with limestone but it is close to marble in its texture and marble monuments are never polished, you likely have granite. I never use epoxy on light colored granite as it will soak into the stone and discolor it.
