How is the hay coming along in your part of the world. Around here it is at a standstill. Not anything going on. Haven't hauled a load of fertilizer in two weeks. Two new spreaders sitting in the yard doing nothing.

well here in southern middle tn we are finally done with first cut, second on most and since we got rain and fertilizer on we are waitin for third.I have less than 500 small square bales in the barn and about twenty rolls left cant hardly keep the stuff .Beans look good got a big 4 acre field of them another field planted later are hurt from dry weather, oh well that is farming i guess

Pretty bleak in SE MN. We've only really had 2 times to hay all summer:

Memorial Day Weekend
Independence Day Weekend

Any other hay that was made has been rained on. I've been cutting it down the day before rainstorms so it doesn't get ruined too bad, but it sure would be nice to get 5 days in a row without rain. The worst part is when we get over 2" at once (like last night) it takes days before the ground is dry enough to mow.

Southwest PA. Tough year to make hay. A lot of guys cut when they should not have, got it rained on, baled it wet or dusty. I've done about 14 fields-got one rained on. It'l be for mulch. We had one 10 day spell early July where you didn't have to ted, could leave machinery unsheded & cut like crazy. Got about 4000 squares made right & in the barn & 75 rounds under cover. Now the weather is back to "one day in a row". Showers forcast 6 days out of 7 !

I"m way behind on my haying, fighting weather - keep looking for 3 or four dry days in a row. Humidity has been very high, taking extra time to dry. Need a GOOD high school athlete who needs to tone up for fall sports. Also fighting with baler. Right knotter just isn"t right. Got it running maybe 80% now. Keep working on it, maybe....

We're 3 weeks late in getting the coastal hay field cut due to weather. James took a day off yesterday and cut it. Temp with heat index was 106 and high humidity.

Hay was thick and tall. Had some clumping issues and part of the 801 hitch snapped off. Go figure.

Hay is so thick it really needs the tedder, but the tedder has been in the shop for months. Shop finally got the right part in Tuesday and it just might be ready Saturday.

We've had about 15 days. One window the end of May and the other the end of June. Now, its 2 days clear and hot then back to scattered showers. Half my second cutting alfalfa is way past ready and the other half is ready for third. I did put up a lot of good rolled hay, about 600 in the first window and over a thousand in the second. Square bales, so far I've had to buy every one I've sold.

Well this so far has been one of the worst years I have seen in the past 30 year. Been way to hot and way to wet do do much. I still do not have my first cutting done which most years it would been done by now. Bad when at noon you walk out in the field and get your shoes wet and that being the case there is no way to cut hay because it will not dry

Everyone is busy Knocking down 2nd cutting around here. First was late, and 2nd is on schedule, so will be a little short on tonage, so that we don't shorten third up to bad. Been hot and dry lately, good hay curing weather.

Seems like the weather has been favorable, most hay has been cut and baled on time, been hot and dry, but the humidity has been high for most of the dry weather. Corn started to wrinkle, which is something not often seen around here. I've been working at our place so much, have not done any hay with the farmer I have been helping for the past few years, with this weather he's got to be done with 1st cut, and now has a 140 acres of oats to get in, then 2nd cut, seems the oats are getting ripe at least what he has planted at my place.

Finnishing today, I have little odds and ends to do, then will be done with first. Hired hand and I moved the rest of the bales off the fields yesterday, just to make some more today. Going to have nightmares about round bales, made over 500 4 by 5 round bales. Averaged 5 bales per acre.

Here in South Texas, there already cutting a 3rd. time which is rare this time of year. After 3 hot and dry years, it"s nice to see the moisture return along with not seeing the 100+ degree days so far.

Raining just about every other day here, so few people have started yet. I'm going to start this week if the weather forecast looks ok.

Making hay is going pretty good here in MN. A few showers now and then, but over all really good haying weather. Hay yield is higher than it has been for quite a few years too. I bought enough twine this spring for 600 round bales, and I had to buy enough for 200 more as I'll have at least that many more to roll up yet in the next week or so.

In central MN, had a nice dry 5 days before Memorial Day to cut the 1st crop of alfalfa, got about 700 bales. got another 1st crop of alfalfa/timothy for the horses,200 bales, before Independence Day. Have had the mower ready to go for 2 weeks to cut 2nd alfalfa crop, but can't get more than 2 or 3 days in a row without rain in the forecast. Hasn't rained at our place most of the times that they predicted it, but I'd rather not take the chance. Alfalfa is nearly in full bloom now, but I'd rather let it get more mature than have it rained on. The water in the marshes is finally starting to dry up, but probably have to wait another month to dry up enough to cut the lowlands.

Central Illinois I just got finished with first cut and its middle of July was too wet in May and rained most of June hopefully will get some rain now to get late August cutting

Here in the S.E. corner of Nebraska, we had a 10 day dry out the week before 4th of July weekend. Buddy and I got up 600 small squares. Not even 1/3 of what we have to put up. SInce then RAIN.. RAIN...and more RAIN...Did I mention RAIN..so its the waiting game for a three-four day dryout. Its grass so it just keeps growing.

I had beginners luck. Got about 400 bales in the barn without a drop of rain and bought 50 round bales that are paid and under roof waiting til I need them. Even had time to piddle through baling some straw to have on hand without any rain. It could rain any time now but just won't.
