H with no spark

I have a 1950 H that does not have a spark. I replaced the spark plugs and polished the points but this did not help. What are my next steps to fix the problem?

I just went through a long aggravating situation with my H having no spark and I was very ably assisted by Janicholson and others on the Farmall board. You might find this link helpful, it will show you all of the five topics I started about it and the advice I was given. Happy reading!

If you have a distributor you need to check for battery voltage at your coil. With the points open and your ignition switch in the on position
there should be battery voltage on both small terminals. Use a test lite or volt meter set on dc volts. If there no voltage you need to check for a broken wire, loose or corroded connection. Check the terminal on your switch that feeds voltage to your coil when its on. Hal
PS: If you have a mag this doesn't apply.

first check for votage at the distributor with the switch on
?polished or filed......polished may have removed nothing......get a little ignition file, file them, check your gap(i've always eyed it but do what you want)..put it together and check or spark....

Now I have had new points that refuse to make a connection with each other right out of the box...I usually turn the engine over until they are closed, then take a screwdriver and using the outside contact area scrape them together a few times,,always have got spark after that..
