Not what I want to hear from my kid when she's been out mowing. I'm not allowed to be in the house with dirty clothes so usually slip into a pair of sweats if in the house for awhile.
If my kids have trouble they come get me and I trouble shoot for them. Seems like a full time job to keep two lawn mowers going this year. Can't keep up with the mowing with rain every other day. She broke a drive belt and knew I couldn't fix that with a wrench, so announced her trouble quite frankly when coming thru the door.

"Not allowed to be in the house with dirty clothes"........sounds like you've got problems worse than lawnmowers.

Yeah, well I guess we know who wears the pants in your family anyway...LOL

Actually, I know how you feel. I haven't been forbidden from having dirty clothes in the house, but don't do it anyway.

Have also had lots of trouble with bad weather and breakdowns. Tire went flat on my Allis C a month ago and am just now getting back to mowing....had to take it off and put it back on three times now. Nobody knows how to fix a flat around here....

lol i used to have the same rule, my new wife gave up when she came home 1 day to 2 cylinderheads off a 454 chevy sitting in the dining room, i do try not to take things to the extream though

If you are on a farm is there another kind of clothes? Oh yes! When you go to church and guest are expected. I remember the old threasher crew. Wash of at the stock tank, drip dry, set down at the table, eat food prepared and served by ladies. I am sure all of the men had a good oder but the windows and out side doors were open. No AC circulating the oder of hard work around the house.

When my brother and I were teenagers, we built up a Chevy engine in the front room when Mom and Dad were out of town. Put the pistons and rods in the oven and put the wrist pins in the freezer.
Newspapers on the living room rug and put the short block back together.
They never found out.

Got to Rag on you a little and agree with the others here...LOL...To me no dirty cloths in the house is a bigger problem than anything..... My wife has never said anything about either my dirty cloths or shoes mainly because she realizes that as a mechanic my dirty cloths (and all of my "junk" outside) represent a big part of what is paying for the house and for us to live day to day. In fact when she chose the flooring for the kitchen her thinking on the colors in it was, "There"s the red mud, there"s the grease, there"s the tan mud..... With this stuff I won"t have to work so hard keeping it looking clean behind you." Still I try not to walk on the carpet with my dirty boots on or sit down if I"m really nasty but hey, all that dirt is what paid for everything so why let a little dirt bother you.........

A few years ago, our grown daughter was here for a visit, says, Dad, it has been a long time since I smelled that diesel smell, makes me feel at home. Another time, when she was just a little squirt, wife dropped her off at the shop for a few hours, she was so proud she was helping me, long time later I admitted I was actually baby sitting her . Kind of ruined it for her.

You know your a redneck if....Your wife says, "Honey, could you move your transmission so I can take my bath?"

Myself, I never did mechanic work in the house but any number of calves and lambs in the porch over the years.

just wanted everyone to know I wear the pants in my family, can't help it if she tells me which ones to wear--Ya get kinda henpecked after all these years. LOL Keith

That reminded me of Wester Kansas 60 yrs ago. Saw horses set up outside with planks for the table. I think almost everything that was served was some kind of a leftover from the farmers frig. 13 years old doing the work of an adult. I missed that as I got older.

I planned ahead when we built our present house. The entrance to the house from the garage is through the laundry room. The master bath is to the left.

I come in through the garage, one step inside the house I pitch my clothes into the washer and turn left into the shower.

Works good.

Sounds like you need to go get your man card out of your wifes purse.

"NO DIRTY CLOTHS IN THE HOUSE" WOW.....

Just messing with ya....

"Sounds like you need to go get your man card out of your wifes purse"

I'm not going to credit you with it, but I sure am going to use that line from time to time because its a good one. I hope you don't mind...too much. Grin

We planned on this problem when we remodeled our old farm house. The utility room just inside the back door. So if I am real dirty I just leave those cloths there and put on some sweats or something. However if I am just a little dirty my big old chair is just off of the tile and is covered with an old quilt. So if I get it a little dirty the wife can just wash it and we are good to go.
The only thing I have rebuild in the house is baking the facings on the old style cone clutches. Used to use the oven for that. Now I have the old stove in the shop to do that with. The electric top comes in handy for heating oil up for axle bearings too.
