I heard today that a guy I know ... was going down the road pulling a mower { not sure what kind } and the seat broke ... he went down and under the mower and is in very bad condition ... heard he can't move his feet ..

That's all I know for now ... it happens ...and FAST ... be carefull ...

OMG I just returned to work yesterday. I was going to an IH tractor show the thursday before memorial day and I was backing up on an oliver 66 to hook to another tractor when the seat slid off the back and the tractor ran over my chest. 12 broken ribs and a cracked shoulder bone. I consider myself lucky to be here. Sure check seats before I go anywhere.

From the stories I've been told, it was not real uncomon years ago. My dad was a great one for checking to make sure the trip plow rope was attatched to the tractor seat with only a small wire that would break if the plow unhooked.

At plowing days, I have seen several strong ropes tied to the tractor seat.

Yep that is why you hold on real tight to the steering wheel. Heard and seen it happen way to many times and yep it happens so fast all the guy can do is fall

My Case has a 4x4 block cut to length under the seat support for this exact reason. It doesn"t look good or even ride good but hopefully the seat fail won"t happen to me. It did to the last owner! THANKS FOR THE POST! THIS IS SOMETHING EVERY ONE NEEDS TO KEEP IN THE BACK OF THEIR MIND! SOMETIMES THE FUN THINGS IN LIFE CAN REALLY HURT YOU!

Yeah, I learned about putting a "fuse" into the trip rope the hard way, but not THAT hard. Had the rope tied to the rear light on the fender, and pulled the light off when plow broke away. Hadn't even thought about it, and would have probably attached it to the seat if the light hadn't been handier to reach back to.

A friend had just backed up to the transfer sled with his G and thrown the clutch when his seat broke. fortunately nothing was hurt but his pride.
