I have a cub cadet 2130 that does not turn over.
The battery is good and lights come on but turn the key and nothing happens. There"s no clicking or anything. It was running and I turned it off to take a break but when I tried to start it again got nothing. I tried the next day still nothing.

How can you tell if the break button is working?
It goes in and out when I press it. Is there a test I can do?

If you get a clicking sound from the starter your battery may be to low to turn it over. As with your car turn the lights on and hit the starter. If the lights go out or very dim its probably the battery.
Personally I'd try to jump it off your car or truck...........

I have a 2160 and I have this problem all the time. It is always a bad connection/wiring/switch problem. Short it across the solonoid and see if it starts. Mine is usually ok for a few weeks after I've done that. Check the safety switches (seat and brake pedal), ignition switch and the PTO switch. Does your's have the AGS trans?

Find the wire from the switch that feeds voltage to your solenoid. Use a volt meter to see if there's voltage on that terminal when you twist the key to make a start. If there's no voltage, there should be a feed wire that feeds battery voltage to your switch use your volt meter to see if there's voltage to your switch. If there's voltage to your switch and none when you twist the key the switch may be defective. You need to make sure your shifter is in neutral and there could be any the safety switches used that may be defective. Do as Chris suggested and jumper the solenoid. Make sure your fingers and hands are safe. Hal

If you get a click but the starter does not engage and turn the engine, I would check your battery terminal connections. Even a good looking one can be bad.

dale, I have a 2284 that does the clicking thing almost all the time for a few times until it kicks in almost like a stuck starter solenoid. I'm finding out I have to really have to stand on the brake pedal to get it to go away it's been doing that ever since I've had it for 12 years just never took the time to fix it.I still love the tractor and its dependability though.

Where is the clicking coming from and at what frequency? The hour meter will click as it turn's over whether it's running or not if the switch is on. There is a relay right under the pto switch that click's when energized on start up but you won't hear it if the starter kicks in. My 2130 drove me nut's when it did this. I could tap the relay and it would crank. Replaced it & it still cranked only when it wanted to. Finally figured out I was bumping against the pto wire plug & that was why it would crank. Try unplugging and plugging back the pto switch several times & see what happen's. That's all it took to fix mine. You may need to do the same thing on the relay, ignition switch, and safety switches.
