(quoted from post at 11:13:20 07/07/10) Dollar a bale, if you're just baling, not cutting and raking.

Fuel costs twice as much here as what you folks pay, machinery is more expensive, and taxes are higher. When I buy small squares (bought the last 10 years) I paid a euro (just over a dollar) a bale for 30-40 pound bales loaded on a wagon and parked in front of my house.

Think I'd do some monkey math and see what it'd actually cost you then ask them to make an offer that they think is fair and discuss accordingly.

We will never complain about our old NH 68 wire & JD 50 it will run all day on 15 gallon of gas. Bailed over 1000 bale and next cutting is about ready. Not fast but steady.

Do you mean you're paying a Euro per bale to buy the bales themselves, or for someone to bale and stack your hay? It's kind of a steal, either way.

somone elses grass cut, raked, baled and loaded on a wagon and parked in frt of (maybe around the corner from) my house. I help with the loading for one guy. Did my own this year (some on the grass that I used to pay 1 euro per bale). Need to figure out what to pay the guy for the grass.

One Euro per bale delivered to your door??? I would buy all you can at one Euro and park your tractor....that must be way cheaper than you can make them yourself.

I don't know about cheaper, but after doing everything myself, wife drove a tractor the first time in her life and putting it in the barn, I feel bad for paying that in the past years. A guy I just bought some of last years stuff from caught me today when I was buying fence and offered me everything he has this year for a euro (he even helps with the unloading). I don't have the room now to take anything.
This guy does everything himself. Puts the tractor in low one and lets it go while he throws bales on the wagon with a fork. Takes it home and throws it into a loft and his sister that isn't all there stacks it.

1.00 a bale pulling their wagon, they load it or .80 kicked out on the ground. Thats plus cutting and raking. Any less unless its a really good friend or a really attractive woman and Im staying at the house.
