Where"s that at? Looks like Grand Traverse area. I know they have a couple of Wind Turbines up in that area. They wanted to put a whole bunch of them off the coast line by Muskegon. Didn"t pan out as of yet. I think they are still trying to locate the ideal place in Lake Michigan.

Were are those ones at here in michigan?? Theres a few a couple hundred yards south of the mackinaw bridge. It kinda kills the view coming over the bridge. Used to have a nice view of the straits area but now all you see is those darn wind mills.
Herb every time I see your name I think of the Bob and Tom radio show, theres a act that calls in named Herb Johnson and is funny as heck.

They are all in the Thumb area around Bad Ax. Elkton and Pigeon. There just seems to be a lot of them in this area. My photos were just the tip of the iceburg.

It's bad enough but it's really nothing compared to what has happened to some ares of the west. There are thousands of them and it looks horrible. I just hope we are really getting something out of this.

a study says that 38000 of these things could supply 3 percent of the energy needed for the US. it is said 1 every 26 acres. good in certain regions only .
so what do you say cover the U.S. with this stuff or Oil , coal , nuclear ?

Those things are the biggest waste of money. Plus they ruin the country side. If the city tree huggers think they are so great let them put them in their back yards. Those things are not quite either. My brother-in-law has several of them on his farm in Oklahoma. They make a wind noise that is annoying.
If we would build a couple of nuclear power plants it would equal all of the wind energy in the US. A funny thing about those wind mills. If the wind is blowing very hard they shut off. So when they could really get the energy they quit.

Ditto on all you wrote JD. They put up 6 at Detroit Metro Airport that cost $12,500 apiece. They produce 1200 watts each in a good wind. Payback is 60+ years w/o tax credits, 40+ years with a 30% tax credit (meaning you and I are subsidizing these things). I believe that every state should have nuclear power plants to produce the electricity that THEY need. Tell all the tree-huggers to take a hike and drill for oil while migrating to hydrogen fuel cell cars. Along the way, dump the EPA and it's silly rules and ideas (like "don't fill up your car on an ozone alert day") Get rid of any thought of Cap-and-Trade rules.

On another topic, I'm sick of listening to CNN complain about the poor wildlife affected by the BP oil spill. I cry more when I see video of all that good oil going to waste.

Haven"t made it into the thumb to see those. But I did see them trucking the blades and masts out I-69.

Bought a dozer from the U.P. last year and saw probably 10 or more scattered along Lake Superior between Sault Saint Marie and Brimley.

As far as payback, I don"t see it. 12k+ for 1200w. Either the price needs to go waaaaayyy down or the watts waayyyy up.
