1466 fuel pump question

Put a fuel pump from a salvage yard on the 1466 tonight, but the drive gear on the pump seems to stick past the drive gear on the tractor by almost 1/16". Guess I didn't look real close at the old pump before I removed it, but I thought both gears were in line with each other. I had to loosen the gear a bit on the replacement pump to get the mark and pointer to line up, but then I torqued the 3 bolts down. The pump came with an adapter plate bolted on so I just used this plate instead of removing mine. The book doesnt say anything about adjusting this, is it alright to run it like this or is there something wrong? I was told the pump is off a 1566, both drive gears and adapter plates look the same.

Also when I removed the small cover on the distributor part of the pump to make sure the mark was in view, I notice the two screws don't have the wire mesh holding them together like my old pump. Should they be tied or is that just to make sure they haveent been tampered with? Thanks for any help.
