3 pt hydraulic trouble

Hello.I ran over a stump and pulled my main hose loose from my front hyd/pump. I think I lost all my fluid. After replacing 4 gals the front lift and tilt work perfectly, however whenever the engine is running the 3 pt goes to max height even with the adjusting lever completely down..I can"t get to go down at all. Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks

Hello. Forgot to mention the tractor is a '59 massey ferguson that I ran over the stump with and had the 3 pt "raised position" problem with Thanks again.

I"m not much of an expert on hydraulic 3pt lifts,..but I"d assume you have an internal valve problem with the 3pt.You may need a linkage adjustment in the hydraulic sump area where the valves are or you may have leaky seals.
Do you have a "Position"/"Draft" mode lever on the tractor like the Fords? If so it may be in the wrong mode. Just a couple of suggestions.

Your input surely seems the most logical. I have to think the timing (exactly when lost fluid due to hitting stump) is perhaps relevant to whatever is happening in the 3pt area. Maybe caused it to happen somehow. Thanks for the thoughts..

There is a positioning lever for the height adjustment. It can be in the lowest setting and still the 3pt raises as soon as motor is running. No matter where positioned the 3pt goes to maximum height.

I had a 175 in the shop that did that, the roller on the linkage came out, you would be able to see it from the right side cover. It might be that the top link has jammed and the draft is tell the pump to go up.

The Position / Draft Mode lever is in addition to your adjustment lever. The position/Draft Mode lever would be a small lever usually located down under the seat on the driver's right side. This is where Ford has them located. I am not sure about Massey Ferguson if it is in the same location. I still think something happened internally after your hose ripped off,..i.e. a seal blowing out or valve going bad.
Like 504 said, pull your side cover and take a look see.
