I found an old metal oil can and washed it up so I could read the printing. The stenciling on the can is in very good condition, and easily readable when the can is wet. But as soon as it dries out it nearly disappears. What would a person use to preserve it so the wording can be seen, without risking softening or dissolving the printing?

Photo it, have a printer make a stencil and paint it.
Or have a decal made o apply
or trace around each letter then have a steady hand to paint it.

Or leave it alone Jim
