Bailing the Oliver way

I thought you guys would get a kick out of this, I bailed yesterday with the 1550 Oliver diesel and 520 Oliver baler and yes an Oliver flatbed wagon (I didn't get a pic of it together, dead camera). Had lots of looks from the road seeing all this Oliver equipment together in the field. I guess that's doing it the Oliver way!!

Well, I didn't manage to do all one brand, but I had a MF tractor, NH baler, and a red wagon of undetermined origin. Color coordinated!

Started baling in 1949 with Dads Oliver 77 with an IH power take off baler. We did custom baling up to 5 miles away from the farm. Not many balers in our area at the time.

Still would rather use the 77 on the NH 277 baler than any other of my Olivers. The 1650 it to high for my to climb off an on much in one day. I have use a 66 a few time in light hay. Never used the 88 on the baler but don't know why.

Used to have a720 oliver kicker baler and pulled it with 88 diesel, baler worked great, not so much the kicker. 88 is a good tractor on a baler.

I can remember as a little kid my dad and grandad baling with an Oliver baler. My dad drove the tractor and grandad sat on the side of the baler and fed the wires. What model would that have been?

Right now just 2 1550 1 diesel and 1 gas, the gas has 1150 hr (original) Had an 1850 diesel that I should have my butt kicked for selling! I think the 1550s are the best 50 hp tractor ever built, (now I have really done it). Have 5 others M-H M-F Case A-C and Long, all good tractors but still like the Oliver's the best! Bandit

That looks great. I have been baling with an Oliver 720. It has generally worked great. I use a ford 641 to drive it. The Agco dealer near here has had the parts at relatively cheap prices. I like that these are small sized square bales so my daughter can handle them pretty well for her horses.

I do have a question though has anyone had to change the Bushing for the shear pin in the flywheel? Mine has a gash in it so I shear more bolts than I should. I can still bale if I dodge the rain. I am busting a shear bolt about every 85 bales.

I do love our Olivers, but our baling setup is a Massey 285 and a #12 baler. We've got several different running gears, most of them are Better Bilt I think, one is an Oliver gear, and a couple other misc. brands. Got a Deere gear in the weeds right now that needs a little work and an Electric #720 that I need to paint and put back together.
