Mitsubishi fuel pump/tank problems the fix

I hope that is. Could not find the mounting plate any where so I tried to solder a new line in and then use rubber hose to hook the two up but the plate was way to dirty to do so and the solder would not stick no matter how well I cleaned it. So I then drilled the holes out a bit more and slid the hose in. Holes where a tad smaller then the hose so as to make a better fit so might help keep water out. I then siliconed around both of those hoses and after is had dried I painted the tank Ford gray, paint I had laying around any how. Has new fuel pump in it and the plan is to install the tank here in just a little bit. Hope this works since no one seems to have the correct parts for it.

Could you tap those holes to pipe threads and install brass tube fittings? You can try this if what you did doesn't work. Good Luck. Hal

Gas will eat away the silicone!! We put that on the sending unit of our 57 ford truck, made it to duluth and a couple miles back loaded with siding, and it stalled. not to mention its like a 6 hour drive from home. Took the fuel filter off and it was clogged with the stuff, pulled the seat foward and looked, sure enough there wasnt any of it left on or around the sending unit.

Gas should never get to the silicone since it is on the out side of the tank not inside of it. It is there more or less to seal the rubber lines going in so water will not get in but the lines them self being a tad bigger then the holes should seal the gas so it in turn does not get to the silicone at least in theory it should work that way I hope

What I did seems to work just fine. Just took it for a test drive and it has not run this good since I got it so guess the fuel pump has been going out for a long time.
