Gasket Paper

Hey guys I have run into a little bit of a problem. I need some oil resistant, which i think most is. gasket paper. .005 of an inch. 5 thousands thick.

I have looked everywhere and can not seem to find any.

Does anyone know of anywhere to get some. I called Victor and fel pro and they said they don't have it which i know they do.

Joe Pro: 0.005" is getting pretty thin for gasket paper--are you sure you need 0.005"? If not, standard thickness for transmission valve body gaskets is 0.0085", which may be close enough. Another possibility depending on how durable it needs to be is manila folder material--regular notebook paper mikes out around 0.003-0.004" as a rule and manila paper will be a thou or two thicker. It will hold up reasonably well in oil in a pinch.

I've seen some ODD stuff that uses THIN gaskets, Mylar, I think.

You might GOOGLE that.

Yes I need it to be 5 thousands to be used for axle gaskets between shims. and Also to make oil pump gaskets. I would use notebook paper but I dont think it would withstand the gear oil?
