Mitsubishi fuel pump/tank problems

Well checked the pressure today sort of. My fuel pressure gauge does not go up high enough but from what I saw I'll bet it is low as for pressure. Now the bigger problem is, is that the lines have rusted so badly at the top of the tank they broke off when I was taking the lines loose and that is not part of the fuel pump. So any ideas on where I might find the complete unit?? I plan to call around tomorrow to the local salvage yard but figure most if they have one will have the same problems.
Thanks

What I did on my Chevy was got one from a junkyard that was better than mine.I dont know if a Mitsubishi is common or not.You might have to look hard to find a good one.I guess what you would want is a wrecked one that was newer when it was wrecked. There are some big salvage yards in Kansas City, probably St Louis too.You might have to try a big place where they have the stuff off,on a shelf, tested and maybe higher priced than what you wanted, but good.
Or you might be stuck trying to get a new part like that somehow.Dodge is somehow related to Mitsubishi, maybe you can find something on a Dodge pickup like at ORiellys or someplace.Ask for it both ways, for a Dodge pickup that year, then for a Mitsubishi, see which is cheaper and if it will work or if its the same part number, get the part number they have and ask Auto Zone or whatever else you have.I know you can get that part for a Chevy from ORiellys. Its about 2 or 3 hundred dollars pump and all.I dont know about Mitsubishi.Probably higher if you can get it.

You could try checking out a Vulcan Draw Straw. They're made for trucks with aftermarket, outside the tank fuel pumps. Basically, you leave the old pump in the tank, add this Draw Straw and mount a pump on the frame. It also has holes for the return lines.

O'Reilly's only has the pump but not the mounting plate part of it. Dodge 50 is the same truck as the Mitsubishi is and I know a salvage yard that has at least one of them but not sure the gas tank is still there and will be calling them tomorrow

Problem is the lines are broken in the mounting plate that goes in the top of the tank. With it broken there is no way to get fuel from the tank to the engine

yep D50 is the ONly dodge branded truck .actually D50 is a mitsi truck . Have you priced the fuel sending unit ? That what you need . May surprise you . Dorman make sending unit fuel line repair kits . Several differant lines and sizes .Drill out broken line and solder in repair line . bailed me out many times .

I know that somebody makes that stuff.Im just not sure who,or exactly where you can get it from.A good parts place can probably get it if its the same as a Dodge. They will probably have to get out a book instead of the computer.I know that one I saw for a Chevy pickup was an aftermarket of some kind.It had to be special ordered in for it at ORiellys.Maybe someplace like a NAPA store or Car Quest might be better to ask.I dont know what you have where you are,but I know if they have a good parts man he can probably find something. It will be high priced, but it should last a good while. Then you might even try Dodge as far as that goes. You already know its going to be high priced,so maybe see how bad Dodge is.

Or the junk yard.Heck just get the whole tank if you have to take it off.It probably is not any higher than just the part you need.Cut the lines in front of where you need them, spray with some penetrating oil and let it soak as long as you can before you even try a wrench on it.

So far I have called/checked every place in the area and no one has it or can get it. I'm going to keep trying for a bit longer and if all else fails I'll turn around and cut the bad area of the lines and see if I can use rubber hose and also weld/solder in new lines on it and hope for the best
