Tractor Identification

I have recently purchased a Oliver tractor that I know was made in the 50"s. I also know by the tub frame that it is a Super Model, but does not have a tach or bolt down battery door. The owner says that there is no Serial Number tag for the tractor. Is there anyway to determine what the serial number should have been by getting engine numbers, etc."? Someone has put 77 numbers on the side which I know are not orginal. How could I tell the difference between a Super 77 vs. Super 88. The tractor is painted Oliver green and white rims. What should the colors be?

Well yes there is a way. The numbers cast into the block near the starter. If it starts with a k its a s88 or 880 if its an m or 1m its a s77 or 770. post your numbers on the oliver board and get a good answer.

the engine number 185 is 77 and 190 is 88, the hood suggests it is a 6volt, making it 1954-1956, should have green wheels.
