Crop scouting and bowfishing in one trip

After 5-6" of rain this week I had one field that the corn looked awesome, but the creek backed up and there was 15-20# carp swimming in the ditch and through the corn. Man that's not good. I sure don't like carp.

I ain't been bowfishing in years. I live too high to do it around the house, last time I went down to shoot some ended up shooting all night. We caught gar and carp come'n over the road. Shot hundreds of carp and my buddy shot one gar that was over 4' long. Hope the water and finned rats get off your corn quick.

Sure they weren't buffalo fish instead of carp? They're a rare treat around where I live since you can't catch them with a rod and reel (they're vegetarians). Back in 2001 when the Mississippi flooded, the creek valley swelled with nice clean water. I couldn't believe how many buffalo fish there were.

Smoked carp tastes pretty good,as good as any smoked fish I have had just get the mud streak out before you eat it

I'll bet I caught several hundred carp with worms for bait, with a rod and reel when I was growing up here in SD. Was fishing for yellow bullheads.

At first I though you were talking about Fall Fish. Lots of them around here, but not a treat at all.
