8n ford tractor

my 8n tractor stopped running while bushogging with no unual noises. I have put on new carb, points, plugs, condensor, cap, and rotor. still wont start. It has a lot of spark at spark plugs but no gas there when I pull plugs back out and smell for gas. Plugs are dry. Getting plenty of gas to both carbs even when I put old carb back on. any body help?
 
You may have a bad intake manifold gasket,..i.e. sucking air,or your carb has a blocked port somewhere. If you go to the ford 8N forum and present your problem,..those guys there will help you alot.
 
Have you tried a little starting fluid to see if engine will fire? That will help diagnose fuel or electrical problem.
Also make sure plugs are firing when engine is turning over with starter.Sometimes plugs will fire by opening points manually,and not with starter.
Another thing is check compression.
 
Haqve you asked this question in the N forum? This happens all the time and you'll get a good quick answer for this problem.
 
Getting gas to the carb is different from getting gas thru the carb. Remove the pipe plug from the bottom of the carb and see if gas flows thru the carb. Catch it in a clean can or whatever. If no flow thru the carb then either the fuel screen in the elbow is clogged, or the needle valve has trash in it, or the float is stuck.
